Profile of Brad Weeks and Queensland Natural Horsemanship |
Brad Weeks Brad Weeks is a natural horseman who hails from Bellmere in South/East Queensland. With his wife, Leanne, they operate the Queensland Natural Horsemanship Centre. Although now living in Bellmere, Brad originated from the Central Queensland region. His family have been involved in the Rural industry since the 1800’s in varying ventures, including dairying, cropping, and beef cattle. Leanne was a member of the Queensland Police Mounted Unit for a number of years, performing mounted escorts for the opening of Parliament, Governor’s Escorts, parades and mounted operational duties. She has competed in dressage for years and has seen, first-hand, the benefits of Natural Horsemanship in her Dressage training. Brad has had an avid interest in horses all his life from his attachment to the land. Whilst working as a Detective in the Police Stock Investigation Squads of Rockhampton, Brisbane and Charleville, on properties from the Gulf to Cameron’s Corner, Brad has witnessed first hand, the more traditional methods of horse ‘breaking’ and training. He has never advocated such techniques. Instead he always felt that there must be a better way to get the best from a horse. Through patience and persistence, not fear and force, Brad possesses an uncanny ability to communicate with a horse to overcome resistance and gain respect from the horse. He began training and teaching with PNH and ANH, becoming a leading international instructor. In order to take natural Horsemanship to the next level he set up the Queensland Natural Horsemanship Centre and spent over two years designing and create an innovative NH program which caters specifically for all training disciplines, and is also designed to train people to start horses and deal with problems which may occur in a natural and intelligent and gentle way. |

About Queensland Natural Horsemanship |
Queensland Natural Horsemanship is wholly Australian operated. However, due to demand in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe and New Zealand, clinics are being conducted worldwide. QNH offers people interested in natural horsemanship a programme of study which includes three certified levels, a starting horse training program and a training program specifically designed for dealing with problem horses. The first two levels are for people interested in studying the concepts of natural horsemanship with a view to increasing their ability to communicate better with their horses, thus gaining more confidence with their horses. Their horses, in turn, also gain more confidence and respect for the human. Level three is designed for people with more serious equestrian endeavours in mind. These include becoming a natural horsemanship professional and making it a career choice, as well as those wishing to compete in any discipline and at higher levels. In order to complete the "Starting Horses" and "Problem Horses" training programmes, students must be of a specified level of Natural Horsemanship as these two areas involve those with proven NH skills. |
